Confirm this device

Why a new device has to be confirmed

It tells you, in an email you already control, that the account was opened somewhere new. If it was you, one click. If it was not, that email is the earliest warning you will ever get, and it arrives before any money moves.

If it was not you

Do not approve. Use the deny link in the same email, which also revokes the session, and change your password immediately from a device you trust. Then tell us, so we can look at what else was attempted from that location.

Will this lock my account?

No. An unconfirmed device simply cannot sign in. Your account, balance and open orders are untouched, and you can approve the device at any time from an email we already sent.

What about a shared computer?

Approve it if you will use it again, deny it if you will not, and sign out when you leave either way. A trusted device is trusted until you say otherwise, so the sign-out button is the one that matters.

Why not just email me a code?

Because that teaches people to type a code into whatever page asked for it, which is exactly what a phishing page wants. A link you did not request is easier to recognise as an attack than a code that looks routine.
