Live gold price

The same feed that settles your orders, streamed to this page.

Why this page exists

So you can watch the number move before you have an account, and check afterwards that the price you were settled on actually happened.

What you are actually looking at

This page streams the same feed that settles your orders. It is not a decorative ticker and it is not a redrawn chart: if the number moves here, it moved at the source, and the timestamp under it is the time we received it.

Update rate and latency

The source publishes roughly once per second, so an update on screen every second is normal and anything faster would be smoothing, not data. The latency figure under the chart is measured, not estimated: it is the gap between the source timestamp and the moment your browser received it.

When it stops moving

Spot gold is closed from Friday 21:00 to Sunday 22:00 UTC and for an hour each day around 21:00 UTC. During those windows this page shows the last known price, marked stale, and order entry is disabled. A stale price is never used to settle anything.

Is this a real-time price?

It is the source price with network delay, typically a few hundred milliseconds. Nobody has a truly instantaneous price, and anyone claiming zero latency is describing their own cache, not the market.

Why does it differ from my broker?

Your broker quotes its own book, which includes its spread and its own hedging. We quote a bank feed and add nothing. The gap between the two is your broker's spread, not an error on either side.

Can I trade from this page?

No. This page is deliberately read-only, so that the public view of the price is never mixed with an order form. Trading lives in the terminal, behind a sign-in.
