How to use these tools together

Most losing gold trades are not the result of a bad direction call. They are the result of a position that was too large for the stop, a target that did not cover the spread, or an entry taken in an hour when the market simply does not move. The calculators on this page are designed to remove those three mistakes before you click buy or sell.

Why gold needs its own calculators

XAU/USD does not behave like a currency pair. One standard lot is 100 troy ounces, so a $1 move in the gold price is $100 of profit or loss — a scale that makes a $10 stop on a single lot a $1,000 risk. Contract specifications also differ between brokers: some quote gold in lots of 100 ounces, others in lots of 10 or in CFDs sized per unit. That is why a generic forex pip calculator gives the wrong answer, and why every tool here asks for the contract size or works directly from the ounce price.

Gold also trades nearly around the clock, but liquidity is not evenly distributed across those hours. Spreads that sit at 20–30 cents during the overlap can triple in the late Sydney session, and slippage on stops becomes far more likely when the book is thin. Pairing the volatility page with the session clock gives you a realistic picture of what your stop distance needs to be at any given hour.

All ten tools are static pages: the maths runs in JavaScript in your browser, results update as you type, and no price data or account details leave your device. Use them as a pre-trade checklist rather than a prediction engine. They tell you what a trade costs and what it risks — the direction is still your call.

Educational tools only. Calculations use the inputs you provide and standard contract conventions (1 lot = 100 oz unless stated). They do not account for broker-specific contract specs, financing charges or slippage. Trading gold with leverage carries a substantial risk of loss.
