Set up your account

Three quick choices and you are in the terminal.

Decides session opening hours shown to you. Does not affect settlement, which is always UTC.
Which chart type the terminal opens with. Changeable any time.

What the three choices actually do

Base currency decides how your money is labelled. Timezone decides which session hours we show you. Default chart decides what the terminal looks like when it opens. None of the three changes a price, a payout rate or a settlement.

All three can be changed later

Two of them live in preferences and take effect immediately. Base currency is the exception: it is fixed at registration because it would otherwise restate every past statement you have been given.

Can I skip this step?

You can accept the defaults and you will land in the terminal with sensible settings. The step exists so that the first thing you see is not a chart in the wrong timezone.

Does timezone affect when my orders expire?

No. A sixty-second order expires sixty seconds after it is accepted, in every timezone on earth. Only the labels change.

Can I set the practice balance higher here?

No, and it is not offered as a field. A balance you choose yourself is a balance you will choose for comfort, which removes the only thing the practice account is good for.
